May 1-5, 2017

A shout out to Owen, Henry, Liam, Nadia, Daphne and Aiko who met with
me during lunch time to prepare for the Authentic Learning Night on
Tuesday, May 16th from 6:30-8:30 pm. All are invited!

Way to go, Owen, for passing a Xtramath
level!

Thank you, Masha, for sharing Sushki, Russian
 bread rings, with our crew.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Stingl!

Thank you to Ms. Johnson for being a
Mystery Reader! She read Flora and
Ulysses
by Kate DiCamillo. See pic.

Courtney, Taylor and Mahailey shared their experiences
with Xtramath, including their challenges, strategies and
successes! A shout out to all of them for sharing with our
crew!

Kaiden and Daphne show us a greeting while we watch them
in the fishbowl.

Levi and Owen share about "the natural
world" with front to front, back to back.

Aiko and Nadia with a K-4 buddy deliver
homemade May baskets to Shorewood
residents on May Day! This fits perfectly
with our EL Design principle: The
Natural World. See pics

Geoffrey picks up puffballs during our crew initiative before
we debrief and share. See pics.

Henry and Tristan peer critique each other's writing. This was
completed two times with different partners before they
edited with each other. This shows progress in high quality work.  See pics.

Angela and Nancy play a fraction card game before reviewing
and taking an assessment. See pics.

Finn is word processing in the computer lab. See pics.

Auguste and Levi plant seeds to transplant
later in our garden plot. The crew also
observed and illustrated their pots, plus
watered them. See pics.

Auguste, Jacoby, Mae and Geoffrey try out the violas during
an orchestra workshop. See pics.

The SHS Drama Dept., led by Mr. King, performed Dr. Seuss
skits with wonderful messages. See pics.

The SIS Jazz band, under the direction of Mr. Olson and the

7: Crew Garden plot: We will be planting our crew garden plot when it stays warmer at night-looking forward to it! Are there any families that would like to share the watering and weeding of the garden plot through the summer? In the past, three families have shared and you can pick whatever is available. Last summer, the lettuce grew very well!  Thank you to Mrs. McLellan and Mrs. Griffin for offering to take care of the garden. We could still use one more family to help out, too!
