Post 35

May 8-12, 2017

A Shout Out to the crew for earning the Golden Spoon award!
They earned it by being sociable in a respectful way.

Thank you to Angela, Masha and Kaiden
for helping to clean up the cafe after lunch
all week-our cafe crew!

Aiko and Kaiden share a greeting at crew.

J.P.  moves through a hula hoop during crew while both of
his hands are occupied. See pics.  Our Design Principles
are "The Natural World" and "The Primacy of Self-Discovery"
so we've watched a short video about Canada Geese and discussed how we can learn from them. We've also discussed what we've dis-covered about ourselves and what we can do that we didn't
realize we could do.

Kaiden and Cleo shared a story that they wrote together.

Cleo, Daphne, Mary Jane , Daphne and Geoffrey work on
their Mother's Day/special person cards. The crew brainstormed
for words for a Mother's Day poem, then wrote one and added
fingerprint pictures. (The paint didn't work very well, so some
tried stamp pads.) A "Success and Failure" lesson for me!
 Happy Mother's Day!  See pics.

Henry, Jacoby and Rowan play "Beat the Calculator" to
practice multiplication facts. See pics.

Forrest and Petra play "Multiplication Baseball" to practice facts
and extended facts. See pics.

Aiko leads a Brain Break.

Mr. Hughes plays the sax during a band
introduction. He plays MANY other
instruments, too. See pics.

Other Activities this week:

observed plantings and wrote/illustrated in journal, word processed writing in the computer lab, Vets took survey with Mrs. Malloy, Publishing Center, Scholastic News, illustrating picture to accompany inventor research using High Quality Work Protocol

Are there any families that would like to share the watering and weeding of the garden plot through the summer? In the past, three families have shared and you can pick whatever is available. Last summer, the lettuce grew very well!  Thank you to Mrs. McLellan and Mrs. Griffin for offering to take care of the garden. We could still use one more family to help out, too!
