April 23-27. 2017

Mrs. Thoreson's and our crew during the Community Crew on Success and Failure. We shared the balloon drop
initiative with a slideshow, the devices, results, reflections and a short video. Our crews did an amazing job and the older buddies took great care of the younger buddies. See pics and thank you to Mr. Stanco for many of them.

Henry, Nadia and Kaiden were one group of pledgers
this week. They also helped with the announcements.
See pics.

A shout out to Petra for earning a XtraMath
certificate.

Eliza, Aiko, Mary Jane and Nadia wear hats
in support of Somalia. (I'm sorry I mentioned
the incorrect cause in last week's blog.)
See pics.

Angela and Geoffrey help Owen celebrate
his birthday. See pic.

Aiko uses chopsticks during a "Success and Failure" activity.
We debriefed why this activity was easier for some
and were reminded that practice has a lot to do with it.
See pics.

A crumpled piece of paper is like someone who has had
their feelings hurt. We were reminded that we can not
make the piece of paper the same again. We can work on
being kind and empathetic and trying to repair harm.
Sometimes issues are hard to forget. A snowball fight
and throwing those "issues" in the recycling bin can
help. See pics.

Daphne helps a HarborChase resident make a book mark.
Our crew read poems and made bookmarks with the residents.
Thank you to Mr. Forray, Mr. Hammerlund, Mrs. Rosenberg
and Mrs. Talley for chaperoning our trip. See pics.

Mr. Hughes demonstrates an instrument
during the band and orchestra preview with
Mrs. Nolan. Rookies will have an opportunity
to try all of the orchestra instruments this
week and see all of the band instruments
next week. Rookies can wait to turn in
their instrument sheets until after the
demonstrations. See pic.
