October 23-26, 2017

A Shout Out to Petra, Xyella, Charlotte, Cat, Rowan and
Allen for sharing about the High Quality Work protocol and
the process they used to create their self-portraits to the
School Board. They did a wonderful job sharing about what
 they learned!

A Shout Out to Zoah for performing in the
First Stage musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!"
It was a "fantabulous" show and Zoah was
amazing! It is one of the best shows I've
seen at First Stage. See pic of the crew hugging
Zoah.

Way to go, Isla, for earning a XtraMath
certificate!

Congratulations, Charlotte, for  earning a
Xtramath certificate!

A Shout Out to Cassidy for passing a Xtra-
Math level!

A Shout Out to Angela for advancing to
another level in XtraMath!

Representative David Bowen visited our 3/4
and 4th grade crews this week! He explained
about his job, answered MANY questions and
challenged the students to find his seat in Madison.

Zyella and Geoffrey wrote defintions to fanciful
words found in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The crew
also used thesauruses to look up synonyms, brain-
stormed for daily activities, then drew a machine
to help with that activity. We also learned about some
vocabulary in the show (Thank you, Mrs. Hirano!)
watched a few video clips from the 1968 movie to
prepare us for the show. The musical fit in perfectly
with The Having of Wonderful Ideas and our A World of Motion
case study later in the year.  See pics.

Henry leads us in Bippitty Boppity Boo as
an initiatve for having wonderful ideas. See pics.

Mrs. Schmidt announces the names of
staff at the All School Crew so everyone
can see who we are. Crews focused on
"The Having of Wonderful Ideas" and there
was a fun fact quiz oabout a few teachers before
Mrs. Russick led us in Mindfulness. See pics.

J.P. and Victor use the "Quiz Quiz Trade" prtocol to share defini-
tions that are in the book Sooper Yooper Environmental
Defender
written by Mark Newman and illustrated by Mark
Heckman. The Crew also drew sketches next to each
definition as I read the the book. Mark Newman will visit
our crew in November to talk about invasive species
and we will have the opportunity to purchase this book,
plus another. He will also autograph
the books for your child. See pics.

The tour was wonderful! See pics.

Geofrrey, Levi, Damian and Owen stand
on the Observation Deck of the WI State
Capitol building. Thank you for sharing
your photos, Mrs. Jiang! See pics.

A photo inside the WI Historical Museum. It was a very interesting
tour! Thank you for the photo, Mrs. Mclellan! It was a fantastic day!
Thank you to all of our chaperones for riding the bus, driving, and spending
the day with our crew: Mr. Christiansen, Ms. Jiang, Mrs. Dardis, Mr. Stingl,
Mr. Taylor, Mrs. Marks, Mrs. Talley, Ms. Guest, Mrs. Mclellan, Mr. and Mrs.
Hirano and Zoah's grandma. The trip would not have been possible without
all of you and the parents for ensuring that your chld had everything s/he needed
today. Thank you!  See pics.

The crew also did a Scoot in Social Studies as a check for understanding with Mrs. Malloy.
