Henry leads us in Bippity Boppity Boo for a crew initiative to share creative ideas. Our crew is also using the same squiggle to create a different picture for our design prinicple: The Having of Wonderful Ideas. See pics.

Some of the crew stands between the "always" and "sometimes" on a continuum to repesent how they feel about different things. Then, they reflected and marked on a continuum how they felt they are doing on their learinng targets, design prinicples and PERKS. After, they wrote first trimester goals. See pics.

Xyella holds the chimes to see if it has a similar mass to a 1 liter bottle of water. (1,000 grams.) She and Bruce were also finding objects that had a mass of about 1 large paperclip or 1 gram. See pics.

Cat, Andrew and Cassidy were showing how long 10 meters is which is the length of a python. Both math classes reviewd and assessed Unit 1. We also took our Math MAP assess- ment. See pics.

The Northshore Fire Dept. and an officer from the Shorewood Police Dept. spoke to the crew during safety week. We also practiced a tornado drill and soft lock down drill. See pics.

Owen and Cleo look at a graph to figure out what it reprsents. It was a graph about the number of vertebrate and invertebrates pecies. They also looked at a graph to figure out the number of species in mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Last, they looked at an organizer comparing vertebrates and invertebrates. See pics.

Owen and J.P. on the way to Atwater Beach for our case study kick-off. Miss. Torie and Miss Alex from the Urban Ecology Center, led our activities. Students discussed the beach clean up procedure. See pics.

Petra releases a monarch butterfly that was tagged with a sticker. If the butterfly is caught when it reaches its southern destination, it will be traced to our crew. See pics.

Each team marked a grid in the sand. Here Jacoby, Isla, Owen and Angela are collectintg data. Students took turns collecting garbage, tallying the kind of garbage on a data sheet and holding the garbage bag. They also learned how to comb the beach for more garbage in their area.
