Blog #17

December 21-22, 2015

Mr, Rinka helped us put our Gratitude leaves
on the Gratitude Tree created by Mr. Hamann's Crew.

Nadia, Claudia, Julia and Eleanor enjoy pizza at our
Pizza Party for 0 or 1 late slips.

*Please click on any brown captions
for more pics.*
Piper, Zhi, Noah, Cole, Aiko and Nadia enjoy
snacks for our Winter Party with Mrs. Malloy's Crew!
Thank you to  Piper, Rose, Nadia, Matthew, Noah
and Lauryn for providing party treats!

Maya, Mary Jane and Bennett
discuss a self-discipline quote.

Julia helps take notes on our
self-discipline norms chart. "What
does it look like and sound like?"

Before watching, Star Wars Episode 4 at
our Winter Party, we discussed the "Star
Wars" Growth Mind Set.

Kaiden, Lauryn, Cole and Bennett
balanced the boat to form a group.
They also chose their top two choices
to research and created
norms for their group.
This is a short and sweet blog-only two days!

In Math in both Mrs. Malloy's and Ms. Sakai's math class, students participated in fun math related activities or games.

In Reading Workshop, students started to write their expectations down, read with a partner and wrote how their expectations changed.

Our K-4 buddies followed a clue to our
room to look for the next clue
which Matthew read.
They are looking for their
gingerbread person!
In Science, students formed groups by balancing the boat (at least one Rookie and one Vet and at least one boy or one girl) to work on Wanted Invasive Species posters.

Thank you for reading our blog!

Special Notes and Friendly Reminders for Parents

1.  Thursday bags are due by Monday (or the first day of the week.)

2.  Please turn in the Reading Log (totaled) by Monday, January 4th.  If your child misplaces his/her reading log, s/he can write the information on a piece of paper. Reading log is adjusted for vacation. Read 7 out of the 14 days and 140 minutes total.

3.  Important Math Fact information:  No fact practice required.

4.  Winter wear:  Please make sure to label hats, gloves, boots and especially snow pants with your child's name on them.  This will help us return to your child if they're misplaced. Please also send an extra pair of shoes for your child to change into at school, as boots stay in our coatroom, or s/he can wear his/her phy. ed. shoes. An extra pair of socks in your child's backpack may be helpful, too, as they may get wet while playing in the snow.
