Rose shows us her braids that she had cut to donate
them to Pantene. Her braids will be made into wigs for
women with cancer. Way to go, Rose!

     In Crew, we continued to discuss gratitude with quotes and activities, including completing a gratitude leaf for the Gratitude tree that Mr. Hamann's crew created.

      In Reading Workshop, students learned about looking at nonfiction text structures and make expectations before they read. After reading a short section, they discuss how their expectations changed.

measurement. 
     Our Writing this week included completing the grateful leaves and working on a little gift for the families for the holidays.  We also started the procedures for Words Their Way and will complete all the homework at school for the first cycle so the students practice before it is sent home.  They practiced dice, roll, rainbow. Spelling previous to this was integrated into their writing. 

     In Math in Mrs. Malloy's class, students are working on decimals to the thousandths and writing decimals. In Ms. Sakai's class, students shared their math menu, played subtraction Top-it, reviewed and assessed.

     In Social Studies, students continue to learn about map skills.

     In Guided Study, students continue to work on Edutyping and different skills in IXL, along with additional reading and writing.

Special Notes and Friendly Reminders for Parents

   
1.  Thursday bags are due by Monday (or the first day of the week.)

2.  Please turn in the Reading Log (totaled) by Monday, Dec. 21st.  If your child misplaces his/her reading log, s/he can write the information on a piece of paper. 

3.  Important Math Fact information:  Students should either complete a fact packet or Xtramath 3 times this week (due Monday.)


4.  Pizza Party for students with 0 or 1 late slip first trimester is Monday, Dec. 21st.  There was a letter in your child's Thursday bag.  Mrs. Malloy and I will supply two pieces of pizza.  Your child may bring extra lunch, a drink and dessert (school rules apply for these) if s/he would like. 


5.  Winter wear:  Please make sure to label hats, gloves, boots and especially snow pants with your child's name on them.  This will help us return to your child if they're misplaced. Please also send an extra pair of shoes for your child to change into at school, as boots stay in our coatroom, or s/he can wear his/her phy. ed. shoes. 

6.  Move Permission slip: Please turn in by Monday, Dec. 21st


7.  Vets: Spanish homework is due on Tuesday

8. Winter Party:  We are watching a movie and enjoying snacks with Mrs. Malloy's Crew.  Thank you to Mrs. Travanty for contacting parents about treats. These students are providing treats:  Piper, Nadia, Matthew, Noah, Rose and Lauryn.
