     Thank you to all of the families for coming out to support
your children at the AWIM Regional Competition on Saturday! Thank you also to Levi and his family, JP and Nadia for coming out to support the teams. Thank you to Johnson Controls who sent five volunteers, plus Ted Knight, Katelin Watson and the SHS custodial staff for helping.  Thank you to my colleagues from Atwater and Lake Bluff for collaborating for this wonderful first time event.

The Orchid Ensemble, an ACE ensemble, performed for us

Other events this week:

We discussed the concept of "Leave no trace" in the cafe, expectations for when Mr. Blanchette says, "1, 2" and how all crews will help out in the cafe. Mary Jane participated in the BOB pizza party and there was band lunch rehearsal for Liam. Word Masters practiced during Guided Study. The AWIM teams made posters for Saturday.



Notes for Parents


1.   Reading Log : Reading Logs are due totaled on Monday.   Please ask your child to total his/her minutes before s/he brings it to school. 


2.  XtraMath : XtraMath 3 times



3. HarborChase:   We have two more dates to visit HarborChase this year. Thank you so much!

5. Forward Testing practice:Wed., April 19th.  We are taking the last part of Forward Testing on language arts and reading. If you would like to see what it is like or your child would like to practice, s/he can go to this link on my webpage and choose Forward Testing.  We have practiced or will practice in school but it's ok to do this more than once. :)

6. Word Masters:  The Word Master challenge is on 4/27. 


7. Monday, April 10th: K-4 Buddy "Success and Failure" egg drop activity, please bring in materials to use to build a device to keep an egg from dropping (no large than a tissue box.) 


8.  Sendik's bags: If you have any large Sendik's bags that you're not using, we'll take them. We use them to hold art smocks for the year.


9. End-of-the-year books: The crew will make their end of the year books filled with memories and pictures in late May. If you would like to help bind the books on Tuesday, June 6 or Wed., June 7th, please let me know. It can be shared by two people-total of two hours for the project! Thank you!


10: Crew Garden plot: We will be planting our crew garden plot when it stays warmer at night-looking forward to it! Are there any families that would like to share the watering and weeding of the garden plot through the summer? In the past, three families have shared and you can pick whatever is available. Last summer, the lettuce grew very well!  Thank you!
