reading nonfiction text and writing about evidence in the text,  reading about Medieval Times and using a note catcher, making Valentine bags with buddies, desk study survey, writing publishing center stories, engaging in Valentine heart candy activities, and having a Valentine party

Notes for Parents

1.   Reading Log : Reading Logs are due totaled on Tuesday.   Please ask your child to total his/her minutes before s/he brings it to school.

2.  XtraMath :  practice three times a week

3.  Labeling Snow gear: PLEASE LABEL ALL SNOW GEAR with last name or initials :)  We have been spending time every day finding the owner of snow gear and we want to return it to the rightful owner.  Thank you so much!

4 . No School and Conference Dates: There is no school for students on Thursday, March 9th and Friday, March 10th.  The district calendar says differently. Your child is leading the conference so please plan to have your child join us. 

5. Box Tops: If you have any Box Tops, please send them in. We are collecting them! Thank you!

6. Advanced Learning Dept. info:

 Word Masters (if your child chose to participate)

The new lists are in manila envelopes. I thought it would be easier to keep them in those. Your child should also add the "word posters" from the previous challenge to the envelope as those words are used again. There is a new word study sheet this time and extras are available in the classroom. Your child will have some time to work on it in class and the rest should be completed at home. Envelopes should be kept in your child's binder. They also received a crossword puzzle. 

The competition is Tuesday, Feb. 21.

7.  Science Fair: new date is Thursday, March 23rd from 6:30-7:30 pm.  **** 6:30-7:30 pm is a new time.****

 Vets:  will not complete science fair projects. Our entire crew will participate in the "A World of Motion" case study (like last year but more in depth and will include more reading and writing.)  

Rookies:  will participate in the case study and will also complete science posters.

Rookies:Posters are due on 3/13

The science fair posters will be on display during the science fair.

8.  Recipe for salt dough from Mrs. Malloy: 2 c. flour, 1 c. salt and 1 c. water. Add more of the ingredients until you like it!

9.  Joy House and Milwaukee Rescue Mission: Mrs. Malloy's crew is collecting gently used kid's pants, kid's pj's and men's gloves. They are accepting contributions until Feb. 22nd. Thank you!

11. HarborChase:   We have four more dates to visit HarborChase this year. There was a permission slip in the Thursday bag. We are looking for chaperones (at least three) to join us on each trip. Please let me know if you'd like to join us! Thank you so much!
