Blog #24

February 17-19, 2016

Congratulations to our wonderful band students for a
successful Band-o-rama-Piper, Rose, Bennett,
Jesse and Eleanor!

Rowan and Bennett compete in their second BOB
competition!

Maya, Lulu and Rose compete in their second BOB compe-
tition!  Thank you to Ms. Scott for helping with the battle!

Teddy, as John Muir, was interviewed by Shanin at the
ELL presentation!  Wonderful job!

Parth shares his XtraMath certificate with the Crew!

One of my most favorite parts about picking up the Crew
from specials is watching or hearing what they are doing!
Here they are in music class with Mr. Boyer!

Piper reads her quote about responsibility
before the Crew discusses it. Then, she
shares what the quote means to her and asks a
few Crew members to share their ideas.

Julia, Aiko, Nadia and Mary Jane
story plot on a mountain note catcher
for the book The Day of Ahmed's
Secret by F. Parry and F. Heide.

Teddy and Parth use an EL Procotol
"Quiz, quiz, trade" to check for reading
plot parts after watching a short video
and plotting the parts to "Jack and Jill."

Ms. Sakai's math crew watches Paul
and Piper in an EL Protocol "The
Fishbowl" as they learn how to play
a math game.

Liam and Finn play Place Value
Top-it in math.

Mrs. Malloy's math crew
is working on extended computation
and ball park estimates.

Cole and Zhi continue with
 "A World of Motion"
while testing for distance with three
different tubes and weights.

Kaiden, Rose and Mary Jane set up
their vehicle for testing while Eleanor
prepares to time their vehicle.
They will time their vehicle
 with three nozzles and different
weights.
Finn, Parth and Jesse graph their
data and analyze it after their tests.

Aiko, Tyndall, Nadia and Piper
review the JetToy letter to discuss
possible vehicles they might build.
Some of the Crew are sharing their
results and asking questions to
Negin Salami, an engineer
fromJohnson Controls.

Some students are listening to Zoe
Jin as she looks at their data and
answers questions. She is an
engineer form Johnson Controls.
It's been wonderful to spend time
with engineers!

Lauryn leads us in a GoNoodle
brain break!

Noah helps his K-4 buddy during
a 100th day celebration! Thank you
to Julia, Zhi, Noah, Eleanor, Finn,
Maya, Bennett and Aiko for
providing the snacks for the
fun activity!

Teddy plays the Mindfulness chimes
for our crew.
