April 23-27. 2017


Mrs. Thoreson's and our crew during the Community Crew on Success and Failure. We shared the balloon drop
initiative with a slideshow, the devices, results, reflections and a short video. Our crews did an amazing job and the older buddies took great care of the younger buddies. See pics and thank you to Mr. Stanco for many of them. 



Henry, Nadia and Kaiden were one group of pledgers
this week. They also helped with the announcements.

Aiko uses chopsticks during a "Success and Failure" activity.
We debriefed why this activity was easier for some
and were reminded that practice has a lot to do with it.

A crumpled piece of paper is like someone who has had
their feelings hurt. We were reminded that we can not
make the piece of paper the same again. We can work on
being kind and empathetic and trying to repair harm.
Sometimes issues are hard to forget. A snowball fight
and throwing those "issues" in the recycling bin can
help. See pics. 


































Daphne helps a HarborChase resident make a book mark.
Our crew read poems and made bookmarks with the residents.

6. Discovery World field trip: Monday, May 15th-Please bring a disposable bag lunch and drink


7.  Sendik's bags: If you have any large Sendik's bags that you're not using, we'll take them. We use them to hold art smocks for the year.



8. End-of-the-year books: Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Levick for offering to bind the crew's books!



9: Crew Garden plot: We will be planting our crew garden plot when it stays warmer at night-looking forward to it! Are there any families that would like to share the watering and weeding of the garden plot through the summer? In the past, three families have shared and you can pick whatever is available. Last summer, the lettuce grew very well!  Thank you to Mrs. McLellan and Mrs. Griffin for offering to take care of the garden. We could still use one more family to help out, too!

April 18-21, 2017


The crew earned the Golden Spoon for being so neat and working hard on "Leave no Trace" in the cafe. 



Geoffrey, Owen and J.P. helped out in the cafe after lunch
this week. They cleaned tables and swept floors. 






Aiko, Eliza and Cleo represented our crew at PrinciPals
with Mrs. Russick after they talked to our crew about
Success and Failure.

Eliza and Petra work with their buddies on the "Success
and Failure" balloon drop activity. All teams  had 15 minutes
to work together to create a device to project their balloon.
Then, we went outside to test their devices from the kindergarten
playground.  This was a great activity for success and failure.
Thank you to all the crew members that brought in materials. We will share our experience at Community Crew.

Auguste, Daphne, Owen and Mary Jane completed sentences
about a certain topic with saying only one word at a time.

     The crew also worked on Publishing Center stories, Word Masters and thank you cards to all of the Johnson Control volunteers and Mr. Knight. The crew also continued to revise and edit their inventor writing. They also wrote third trimester goals, including behavior goals.

    
    In math, the crew is working on multiplication strategies and fractions.
