November 6-11 and November 13-17, 2017



Thank you to all the Veterans that were recognized at the Veteran's Assembly on November 10th. Levi's father and
grandfather were present. Thank you for your service. Jan Zehren presented a wonderful assembly filled with many
students from our district. See pics. 


Welcome, Leo! Leo attended Atwater for
part of first grade and now he has returned.

our crew at PrinciPals with Mrs. Russick
to discuss the Design PrinciPal:
Responsibility of Learning. 


Charlotte, Nancy, Eliza and Cassidy were
pledgers on Monday. 


Levi, Jacoby, Finn and Sam recited the
Pledge of Allegiance. 


J.P., Victor, Geoffrey and Owen were the
pledgers on Wednedsay. 


Petra, Henry T., Henry C., Zoah and Isla
recited the pledge over the loud speaker. 


Xyella, Angela, Cleo and Masha recited
the pledge during morning announcements.

chain. They are building background

Charlotte, Henry, Masha and Jacoby work on
an interacrtive Word Wall for a food web to
build background knowledge. The crew also
took a museum walk to view all food webs
while an expert from each group explained
their food web. The groups also revised

Senator Lena Taylor signs Henry's Blue Book.
Since our class was the last in line, most of our
crew's Blue Books were personalized. A couple
fun facts Senator Taylor shared with us:  She
lives on the same street she grew up on,  out of
the 1,000 Senators in WI, she is the 20th woman,
the 5th African American and the 2nd African
American woman. See pics. 


The Student Council Vice-President, Max,
talked with our crew about
"Dollar for Honor" and bringing in $1.00 to help
a Veteran take an Honor Flight. We are
collecting money through Friday, Nov. 10th,
also our Veteran's Assembly.

first, middle or last initial and created a picture.

The Rookies had a wonderful time at the Milwaukee Art Museum learning
about the Five Senses. They will now decide if they would like to be a
Junior Art Docent (information coming home soon!) Thank you to
Mrs. Hirano, Mrs. Marks, Ms. Spoto, and Mrs. Taylor so much for chap-
oning our trip. Thank you also to Mrs. Hirano and Ms. Spoto for pics

Owen, Nancy, Isla and Auguste enjoy our WI Fall
Feast of cheese and crackers, cherry Kringles,
apples and caramel dip, apple cider, homemade
butter and sugared cranberries. Thank you to
Charlotte, Nancy, Jacoby, Owen D, Xyella and

Other Activities this week:

Vet Junior Art Doecent went to the Milwaukee Art Museum, students reflected on learning targets, Design Principles and goals for first trimester, MOD continues to meet every Monday, students are reading JR books and making self to text connections
