Levi and Tristan discuss "What Kind of Smart
they are" in Front to Front, Back to Back.
We learned that everyone is smart in different
areas, we have strengths in some areas and
we can work on some, too. See pics.

As a way to focus on the EL Principle: The Having of
Wonderful Ideas", each student created a movement for
Bippity Boppity Boo. We leaned that in order to have ideas,
we have to have knowledge about it beforehand. Owen D.
leads the activity with his movement. See pics.

Masha gives Owen a compliment before she hands him his
progress report. We worked on giving specific compliments,
eye contact and manners. See pics.

Mary Jane and Daphne enjoy Library Book
Exchange.

Our Crew listens to Mrs. Gulbronson
at the book fair. We also watched the
Book Fair DVD. We spent time reviewing
and discussing activities from the Advanced
Learning Dept. See pics.

7. Advanced Learning Dept. info:

A.  Spelling bee lists: (if your child chose to participate)

The lists are in a pack-e.g. Rookies start with third grade list, after you learn that, continue to fourth grade list, etc. The spelling bee will begin with third grade (or fourth grade for Vets.) Once, the word list is finished, the spelling bee will continue with the next grade level.

Third grade bee-Friday, Jan. 13th

Fourth grade bee-Tuesday, Jan. 17th

B. Word Masters (if your child chose to participate)

The new lists came home yesterday in manila envelopes. I thought it would be easier to keep them in those. Your child should also add the "word posters" from the previous challenge to the envelope as those words are used again. There is a new word study sheet this time and extras are available in the classroom. Your child will have some time to work on it in class and the rest should be completed at home. Envelopes should be kept in your child's binder. The next competition in in Feb.
