Here is our Crew in Music class!

Aiko is sitting on our new Core Wobble Chair!  I was
able to use the Scholastic Bonus points, which the class
receives, when you purchase books.  We almost have enough
bonus points for a second one.

     During Crew, students shared about a food that is special or a tradition with their family.  Crew activities included the opposite game, when the waves roll and more.

Eleanor and Kaiden practice using

often in class. 

Parth and Bennett describe a picture
with clues while the other person
guesses what it is. 

     In Reading Workshop, students continued to focus on the
target:  I will read JR books. They also read and wrote sticky notes on text to self or text to text connections.

Maya, Tyndall and Matthew use a
dichotomous key to identify animals.
They also completed some ABC
research. 

     In Writing Workshop, students listed objects that are important to them with clear small moments. They also made cards for their K-4 buddies.

Bennett, Liam and Jesse use computers
to complete a note catcher
 grid about animal classes.
They also used our website/science link page
to learn more about animal classification.  Your
child should learn his/her 8-digit password.

     In Math in Mrs. Malloy's room, students reviewed and assessed Unit 1.  Ms. Sakai's class, reviewed place value and number grids.

     In Social Studies, students learned about the three branches of government.  The new Madison field trip date is Friday, November 20th.

                                                              Students also completed a continuum to reflect on their progress on behavioral targets. I also added to the continuum and met with each student about it. They will complete this at least one more time, on the same continuum, before conferences.

Special Notes and Friendly Reminders for Parents


1.  Thursday bags are due by Monday (or the first day of the next week.)

2.  Please turn in the Reading Log (totaled) by Monday, October 5th.

3.  Late slips for homework and reading logs started last week. Students may also earn "no homework      coupons" to use.

5.  Please send all lunches, instrument, etc. with your child in the morning.

6.  Please see other email about the change in the Madison trip. It is now Friday, Nov. 20th. 

7.   Vets:  Riveredge Nature Center in Saukville, WI is offering "Free 4th grade family memberships"  This offer is extended multiple years so Rookies can enjoy this next year.  (Thank you to Lora Caton for letting me know!)   http://riveredgenaturecenter.org/4thgrade/

8.  Please ask your child his/her 8-digit password (email sent earlier with this information.)  Knowing this password allows quicker access to technology at school. 

9.  There is no school for students on Thursday, Oct. 15th (am inservice for teachers and pm conferences) or Friday, Oct. 16th.

A typical Sat. for me is driving Miya to dance a couple of times and we hope to pick apples this weekend. Last weekend, I biked on the Interurban Bike Trail-one of my favorites! I hope you enjoy your weekend!
