January 2-5 and January 8-12, 2018

Welcome to our new crew member, Maria!
It is wonderful to have you in our crew!

A Shout Out to Cassidy for completing an
XtraMath level!

Isla created the dolphin greeting. She and
Cassidy taught it to the crew. See pic.

Cassidy, Jacoby, Nancy and Henry start on the "couch"
in our crew initiative for our EL Design Principles Success
and Failure. We also debriefed after the iniative. See pics.

After the crew created norms for the snow
person, they tried the challenge again. Zoah,
Owen D., Isla and Henry work together to
complete the tallest snow person with paper
and a glue stick. See pics.

Eliza, Charlotte, Cleo and J.P. discuss ideas
for the snow person intiative.

Sam, Finn and Levi share their latest comic
with ads.

Alice, Enya, Victor, Leo and Baturalp play
games together.

Here is my Cross-age Crew (CAC) made up of K-5- 6th graders.
The All School Crew met in the cafe. Mr. Bell read the
leader's name and number (we have 44 leaders!) and each
crew member took his/herinvitation and met up with his/her
leader and other cross-age crew members. Each CAC met
in a room and learned first names through a greeting,
reading part of The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi, snowball
iniative and debrief questions. The feedback from our crew
about the first meeting was positive! Relationships are forming!
See pics.

We used our birthday data to create a graph for our crew.
See pics.

Charlotte puts up her shoe size meansured in
inches on the graph during math class. We
learning about data,  line plots, scale, minimum
and maximum. See pics.

Lillian and Xyella play a math game to review addition and
subtraction facts. See pics.

The following activities are all a part of our Great Lakes expedition. The crew is also continuing to read WI historical fiction novels and write reading responses using a rubric with Mrs. Malloy.

We completed our Eurasian Ruffe Musical Chair activity and
debrief. The crew "felt" how the Eurasian Ruffe
affected habitats, food sources, native fish and top predator
fish. See pics.

Students created an interactive word wall and share
share trade with science terms. Auguste,
Cassidy and Owen M. complete
invasive species research on a note catcher
which included the terms they learned See pics.

J.P. and Victor complete a note catcher about
fish that live in the Great Lakes. They "scoot"
among different stations to answer questions
that help identify characteristics of fish. Proper-
ly identifying fish (native and invasive) is one
strategy to help eliminate invasive speciess.
